Well, it's almost time for us to plant our food plots for the Fall. Even in September, it will be in the 90 degree range, hot! We plan to start bush hogging early at the end of August, to be ready to disc the plots and seed on the third weekend is September. The great thing is that our member, Rambo Mariast is going to supply the seed that he gets from Pennington Seed and Tecamate Seed, two of his advertisers in his Cajun Outdoors Magazine and Cajun Outdoors TV. His dad, Chipper has hunted with Elbis and me for almost 21 years now and Rambo came up hunting deer with us. I guess that you could say that he is giving back! Boy, we appreciate it!
We will also be checking out all of our stands for safety and of course rats, flying squirrels, and wasp. I suggest that all of you to check your nylon ratchet straps, eyebolts, and turnbuckles. We use treated lumber on our stands and paint them very heavily. We have stands that were built 16 years ago and still are safe and sound.
My other plan is to make the "cool vest" that I started last year. That would help us in this heat while working, but also while bow hunting. They will last for 4 hours and can be recharged in 15 minutes in ice water. That would be a game changer for me, I get over heated very easy.
Good luck the everyone with your food plots and be safe out there!
